First Place Bank’s North Coast President Resigns
Tuesday, November 20, 2012WARREN, Ohio – Kenton Thompson, corporate executive vice president of commercial banking at First Place Financial Corp. and president of the North Coast region of First Place Bank, has resigned effective Dec. 28, the holding company informed the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Monday.
Thompson, age 56 and resident of Hudson, joined First Place nine years ago after a 19-year career at KeyCorp where he was executive vice president for commercial banking.
He earned his baccalaureate in business administration in 1979 at Youngstown State University.
Quaker Steak & Lube Serves Billionth Chicken Wing

Prices of Houses Reach Highest Level since 2004
Tuesday, November 20, 2012NEW YORK -- The Deloitte Consumer Spending Index rose sharply in October, primarily the result of the second consecutive and significant increase in the prices of new houses.
The index, which has four components -- tax burden, initial unemployment claims, real wages and real house prices -- rose sharply to 4.02 from 3.54 the previous month.
The index tracks consumer cash flow as an indicator of future consumer spending.

Monday, November 19, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Average retail gas prices threaten to break a record as the busy Thanksgiving driving holiday approaches, and matters don’t look to improve much for Christmas or the beginning of the new year, warns an analyst with the website OhioGasPrices.com.
In Ohio, the average retail price has fallen 2.8 cents per gallon over the past week, averaging $3.44 per gallon Sunday. Still, the average price is 21.6 cents higher than the same day a year ago and is up 3.9 cents from a month ago

Flynn's Tire Wholesale Opens Warehouse in Solon

The 50,000-square-foot warehouse and sales office complex replaces the old one in Brecksville, Ohio.
The larger and more modern complex in Solon allows for more than twice the tire inventory, said Shaun Fitzgerald, corporate general manager. It also provides easier access to major highways to expedite deliveries to customers.
Butler’s Holiday Arts and Crafts Show Begins Dec. 1

Proceeds are used to fund free programs for children.

Ohio's New Business Filings Total 8,001 in October
Monday, November 19, 2012COLUMBUS, Ohio – Filing to do business in Ohio in October were 8,001 new entities up from 6,449 that filed with Secretary of State Jon Husted's office in October 2011.
The office has processed 74,735 new business filings between Jan. 2 and Oct. 31, an increase over the same time period last year when 69,475 new business filings, were reported, Husted reported.
