Thanksgiving Day Promotions Lure 35 Million Shoppers
Monday, November 26, 2012WASHINGTON -- More than 35 million Americans visited retailers’ stores and websites Thanksgiving Day -- up from 29 million last year -- scoring deals on everything from electronic items to cashmere sweaters and toys, reports the National Retail Federation.
A survey conducted for the trade group by BIGinsight confirmed that store traffic and spending grew over the entire holiday weekend.

Akron-Canton Airport Reports Busiest-Ever October
Monday, November 26, 2012GREEN, Ohio -- October marked the 19th consecutive record-breaking month at Akron-Canton Airport. Passenger traffic surged 8% ahead of October 2011.
For the month, nearly 160,000 customers flew in and out of the airport, the fourth best month on record, according to Rick McQueen, president and CEO. Year-to-date passenger traffic is up 11% compared to the first 10 months of 2011.

Cortland Bancorp Amends Dividend Reinvestment Plan
Thursday, November 22, 2012CORTLAND, Ohio -- The board of directors of Cortland Bancorp announced Wednesday that the company has amended and restated its dividend reinvestment plan effective Nov. 21 and will permit investments to be made under the plan commencing.
The plan permits re-investment of dividends and supplemental investments by eligible shareholders who already own at least one common share of Cortland Bancorp. Shares purchased under the plan may be purchased in the over-the-counter market or directly from the company.

Employment, Economic Indicators Improve in Area
Wednesday, November 21, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Unemployment rates edged down across the region again in October, and were down markedly from the same period a year ago.
Mahoning County's October unemployment rate was 6.6%, down from 6.9% in September and from 8.6% in October 2011, reports the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Trumbull County's unemployment rate slipped to 7.8% in October from 7.9% a month earlier, and was down from 8.7% a year ago. Columbiana County's 7.0% rate in October compared to 7.3% in September and 9.4% in October 2011.

By mid-spring, all of its leasable space could be occupied. Already only 14,000 square feet in one building is all that remains available, he says.
“I’ve been seeing a significant increase in inquiries since [last] mid-spring,” he says.
