Ohio's New Business Filings Total 8,001 in October
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Filing to do business in Ohio in October were 8,001 new entities up from 6,449 that filed with Secretary of State Jon Husted's office in October 2011.
The office has processed 74,735 new business filings between Jan. 2 and Oct. 31, an increase over the same time period last year when 69,475 new business filings, were reported, Husted reported.
New business filings are classified as forms submitted to the Ohio secretary of state that declare the formation of a business entity, including for-profit, nonprofit and professional corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, limited partnerships and limited liability partnerships. Filing as a business in Ohio does not guarantee the company will begin operations, be profitable or create jobs.
