Thursday, November 15, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – At its sixth annual awards ceremony Wednesday night, Youngstown CityScape recognized four institutions, three businesses and nine individuals or families for improving the appearance of the city.
“If there’s one organization that turned this city around,” Mayor Charles Sammarone began, “it’s CityScape.” He amended that assertion to recognize as well the work Community Corrections Association has performed along the Market Street corridor.
The mayor belongs to St. Christine Church on the West Side, one of the four institutional recipients.

Bar Association Says 2 Judges Enough for Youngstown

After extensive review, said bar association President Shirley J. Christian and former President Scott Cochran, their membership concluded, “Operating with two judges would reduce expenses and align more closely the city’s population and the court’s case volume, both of which have decreased considerably in the past 10 years.”
Youngstown Club Slated for Closing at Year-End
Wednesday, November 14, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Club will cease doing business at the end of the year, sources confirm to The Business Journal, but remain open through the holiday season and continue its tradition of cheese and peanut sales.
The club, established more than 100 years ago by the city’s captains of industry, operates on the fourth and fifth floors of the Commerce Building at 201 E. Commerce St. downtown. The building is owned by Ohio One Corp., whose president, Richard E. Mills, declined comment.
Chesapeake Reports Liquids Production on the Rise
Wednesday, November 14, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Chesapeake Energy Corp.'s natural gas liquids and oil production is expected to hit 250,000 barrels per day by 2015, according to a forecast from company CEO Aubrey McClendon.
In a presentation Tuesday at the Merrill Lynch 2012 Energy Conference in Miami, McClendon made the case for Chesapeake's continued aggressive shift toward oil and natural-gas liquids, while noting that pulling back from dry gas exploration should force those prices to rise over time.
