Butler’s Holiday Arts and Crafts Show Begins Dec. 1
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Butler Institute of American Art will hold the 42nd Annual American Holiday Arts & Crafts Show and Sale Dec. 1 and 2.
Proceeds are used to fund free programs for children.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 1 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 2. Admission is $5 for adults and children under 12 are admitted free. Free parking will available in nearby decks at Youngstown State University.
The show and sale will feature some of the best in fine art and original unique crafts. One hundred vendors will present items as potential gifts for the holidays. Among the arts and crafts are paintings, photography, jewelry, paper, ceramics, fragrances, wood, leather, fiber, food, horticulture and decorative arts.
The Butler’s gift shop which offers specialty merchandise from collectibles to cards and gifts based on its world-famous collection, will be open as well as will its fine art sales gallery
On the 2012 American Holiday Committee are chairwoman Cynthia Perantoni Anderson, Norm Anderson, Phyllis Bacon, Vince Bacon, Larry Bartos, JoAnn Blunt, Stan Boney, Marilyn Chiu, Y.T. Chiu, Nancy DeGood, Rebecca Gerson, Audrey Korenic, Deborah Liptak, John MacIntosh, Rich Morgan, Raquel Pacheco, Regina Reynolds, Rick Shale, Juanita Sherba, Paul Sherba, Kary Shively, Guy Shively, Mark Shohayda, Glenn Stevens, Florence Wang and Robin Wesson.

- John and Susan Burton (Olivet, Mich.), hand-drawn calligraphy in italic and traditional styles.
- Melissa Gray (Richlands, N.C.), felting, hand spun/dyed yarns and fiber sculpture.
- Robert Williams (Talmadge, Ohio), fine art photography, panoramas and images on canvas.
- Betsy Blankette (Greensburg, Pa.), watercolor and multi-media works and creates giclée prints.
- Allan and Nora Johnson (Saegertown, Pa.), herbal soap, salves, balms, culinary blends handmade from organically grown ingredients.
- Debbie Dory (North Lima), live decorated boxwood trees, centerpieces and decorations.
- Carl and Ruth Jennings (Brookfield), Faberge-style eggs. Each piece by the Jennings begins with an ostrich egg shell and all are unique.
- Stewart Webb (Darlington, Pa.), wearable art made from recycled electronic materials. Works range from necklaces, pins and earrings to clocks and desktop sculptures
- Berni K. Koczwara (Youngstown), prints and greeting cards based on her original paintings.
- C. Scott Lanz (Youngstown), original photographic prints (framed and unframed) as well as note cards, holiday cards, and calendars that feature his work.
- Ron Meade (Sharpsville, Pa.) handtooled leather work that is dyed, shaded, and inlaid with rich color.
- David Misalko (Boardman), original watercolors, limited edition lithographs, and giclée prints.
- William Morrison (Pulaski, Pa.), wooden toys, benches, shelves, doll furniture and more.
- Marilyn Fredenburg (Fowler, Ohio), sewn original handbags designs that use various textiles.
- Kathy Arnold (Hudson, Ohio), who uses alpaca fibers to create hats, scarves and purses.
- Bob Barko (Youngstown), with Steel Town Studios and his original fine art graphic works, wearable art and more that are inspired by the history of Youngstown.
- Elaine Bond and Patti Frye (Etters, Pa.), unique fabric and leather embellished handbags.
- Justin DePace (Lisbon), an artisan blacksmith who creates functional metal objects for home décor as well as fine art sculptures.
- Tom & Desiree Gilbert (Norwalk, Ohio), wooden treasure boxes.
- Sharon Tangler (Kensington, Ohio), handmade primitive beeswax candles and natural botanicals potpourri.
- Gerry Hefferon (Struthers), hand-turned ink pens and desk sets.
- Christine Weigand (Sagamore Hills, Ohio), fine artworks of handcut paper and paper sculpture.
- John W.H. Thomas (Baltic, Ohio), photography, digital ink-jet prints on archival paper in limited editions.
