West Corp. Holds Job Fair through Thursday
Monday, August 05, 2013NILES, Ohio -- West Corp., seeking to recruit 200 technical associates at its call center here, 5185 Youngstown-Warren Road, is holding a job fair from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. today through Thursday, Pat Cascarelli announced today.
Cascarelli is the human resources director at the call center.
West also announced that it has raised the starting wage for those it hires to $10.50 an hour, an increase of $1.50 from its previous starting pay. In addition to a higher starting wage, West offers full-time benefits such as health care, a 401(k) plan and tuition reimbursement.
US Petroleum Exploration to Announce Operations

Monday, August 05, 2013COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A Mahoning Valley state senator and an Ohio progressive group are firing back at claims by the Ohio Department of Insurance and its director, Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor, that assert consumers who buy health insurance on the federal government's health insurance exchange for Ohio will pay an average of 41% more than they did in 2013.
At the same time, department officials announced they confirmed previously-released preliminary calculations that insurance companies’ costs to provide individual health coverage will increase by 83%.
Regional Chamber Touts ‘Business Facilities’ Ranking
Monday, August 05, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Business Facilities magazine, a trade journal targeted to professionals that select expansion sites for corporations, has ranked the Youngstown-Warren Metro area among its a top-10 markets for economic growth potential.
The magazine ranked Youngstown-Warren sixth in its economic growth potential category among metro areas with less than 450,000 employment. That list is contained in the magazine’s 2013 business facilities rankings in its July/August edition. Baton Rouge, La. was named the top-ranked metro for economic growth potential.
Community Solutions Receives Grants for Education

The grant will help to fund the Warren SPARK -- or Supporting Partnerships to Assure Ready Kids -- program.
