The four-pronged approach focuses on strategic hiring, training, protection and safety and health-care initiatives.
Youngstown Rotary Launches Winter Coat Campaign
Thursday, August 08, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Rotary Club of Youngstown is partnering with Operation Warm to raise $10,000 to buy new, high-quality winter coats. The coats will be given to students at Harding Elementary School and other children in need, Bill Russell says.
Russell is chairman of the Rotary’s Operation Warm.
Last year, the Rotary raised $4,000 and provided 200 children with new coats. This fall the club plans to provide at least 500 children with new coats.

Wednesday, August 07, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A spokeswoman for ValleyCare Health System of Ohio expressed disappointment that the union representing registered nurses at Northside Medical Center rejected a proposed collective bargaining agreement with the hospital, which the company considers its best and final offer.
Members of the Youngstown General Duty Nurses Association/Ohio Nurses Association turned down the proposal in voting Tuesday. The union has been operating without a contract since the prior agreement expired in July 2012.
Bank Trade Journal Ranks Huntington Top Performer

Based on assets, the magazine divided 289 banks into three categories. Huntington, which ranked second last year in the category of $50 billion and more in assets, came in first this year.

Weakley Leaving WKBN-TV for Anchor Job in Buffalo
Wednesday, August 07, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Buffalo News is reporting the WKBN-TV news anchor Teresa Weakley has accepted a position as anchor of the “Wake Up!” morning show on Buffalo’s WVIB Channel 4, a CBS affiliate. Her first day onthe job is Sept. 3, according to the newspaper.
WKBN and WVIB are both owned by LIN TV, which acquired WKBN last year. Weakley anchors the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts on WKBN as well as the 10 p.m. newscast on WYFX. She is married to WKBN sportscaster Joe Aulisio.
