MTR: Gaming Competition 'Cannibalizes' Markets
Wednesday, August 07, 2013CHESTER, W.Va. -- MTR Gaming Group Inc. reports second-quarter net income of $2.4 million, or 8 cents per diluted share. Total net revenues were $132.3 million, an increase of 11.1%, compared to $119.1 million in the same period a year ago.
Continued strength of the company's Scioto Downs in Columbus, Ohio, led to the double-digit in revenues revenue, said MTR's acting president, Joseph L. Billhimer. But the expansion of gaming elsewhere "continues to cannibalize existing mature markets," he said.
PNC Bank Opens Inaugural 'Pop-Up Branch'
Wednesday, August 07, 2013ATLANTA -- PNC Bank, based in Pittsburgh, has opened its inaugural portable "pop-up branch" here. The branch brings financial services to consumers through a temporary site designed to generate new business.
The unique, steel-constructed, 20-by 8-foot structure is open seven days a week through mid-November at Atlantic Station, a mixed-use center built on the former brownfield site of the Atlantic Steel Mill.

Chesapeake Gets Permits for Columbiana, Carroll Wells
Tuesday, August 06, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued 12 horizontal permits for oil and gas exploration in the Utica shale last week, according to records.
Chesapeake Exploration LLC was awarded a permit Aug. 1 to drill a horizontal well in Columbiana County on the Leona property in Franklin Township, ODNR reported. The Oklahoma City based-company also secured two more permits in Carroll County, where Chesapeake is most active.
There were no new permits issued to companies exploring in Mahoning or Trumbull counties during the week, according to ODNR.
NiSource to Resurface Roads Near Processing Plant

Work is to start Aug. 12 and finish by Aug. 30, NiSource officials announced during a meeting of the Springfield Township Trustees Monday evening.
Poland Township Wells Key to Hilcorp's Utica Play

At the center of this drilling activity is the Carbon Limestone Landfill site – 2,200 acres owned by Republic Services Inc. and leased to Hilcorp for oil and gas exploration in the Utica shale.

U.S. Petroleum Exploration Inc. officially opened for business during a ribbon-cutting ceremony held this morning at its offices at 4137 Boardman-Canfield Road.
"Right now we're looking at several different portions of the play to operate," says John Navarro, project manager for U.S. Petroleum. "We're looking for some permitting that we have underway right now."
