Exterran Awaits Tax Credits, Plant Ground Breaking
Monday, February 27, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Ohio Tax Credit Authority is expected to approve today job-creation tax credits for Exterran Energy Solutions LP, one day before the Houston company plans to break ground for a $13.2 million plant here.
The company plans to build a 65,000-square-foot manufacturing facility on a 20-acre parcel at the Salt Springs Road Industrial Park that previously had been set aside for Exal Corp. to build an additional plant.

Ohio Tourism's Marketing Campaign Brings Results

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Development's Office of Tourism's 2011 "Too Much Fun for Just One Day" advertising campaign resulted in a $14 to $1 return on investment for Ohio. This translates to a return of $14 in state and local taxes for every $1 invested in tourism marketing, officials say.
The return on investment reflects a continued pattern of success for Ohio tourism campaigns, including an ROI of $13 to $1 in 2010 and 2009 and a $12 to $1 return in 2008, according to an announcement from the tourism office.
January Home Sales Up Year-to-Year

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Area home sales in January were up nearly 25% from where they were a year earlier, newly released figures from the Mahoning Columbiana Association of Realtors show.
Slightly more than half of that year-over-year gain of 52 units came from Mahoning County, where 27 more homes were sold in January than a year earlier.
Old Steel Sites Set for Environmental Grants

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The State Controlling board will consider nearly $600,000 for environmental assessments of two Mahoning Valley sites when it meets next week.
The two grants, if awarded from the Clean Ohio Assistance Fund, would be used to perform Phase II environmental assessments on the property of the former Youngstown Sheet & Tube seamless tube mill in Youngstown and the site of a former U.S. Steel Corp. mill in the village of McDonald. The board is considering grants of $291,649 for the McDonald site and $299,085 for the Youngstown site.
