City Seeks to Extend Covelli Centre Naming Rights
Thursday, October 25, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The city Board of Control this morning will consider a one-year extension of its naming rights agreement with Covelli Enterprises for the Covelli Centre.
Under the agreement between the JAC Management, which operates the arena on behalf of the city, and Covelli Enterprises, a Warren-based franchisee of Panera Bread and O’Charley’s restaurants, the city would receive $175,000 for the one-year extension, said Eric Ryan, president of JAC Management and executive director of the Covelli Centre.
Farmers National Reports Net Income of $2.5 Million
Thursday, October 25, 2012CANFIELD, Ohio – Farmers National Banc Corp. Wednesday reported net income of $2.49 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30, or 13 cents per diluted share.
This compares to second-quarter net income of $2.27 million, or 12 cents a share, and third-quarter 2011 net income of $2.37 million, or 13 cents a share.
For the first nine months, net income was $7.30 million, or 39 cents a share, an increase of 14.7% compared to the same period a year ago when net income was $6.18 million or 34 cents per share.
BP Gives $50,000 Toward Trumbull STEM Program
Thursday, October 25, 2012NILES, Ohio – Students and teachers throughout Trumbull County will soon be able to access web-based curricula designed specifically for science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, thanks to a $50,000 contribution from BP.
Education professionals, elected officials and executives from BP were on hand this afternoon at the Trumbull County Educational Service Center to announce the initiative.
Dr. Robert Marino, assistant superintendent of TCESC, said BP funded a two-year rollout software program called Defined STEM.

More than 800,000 Votes Cast in Ohio Through Oct. 19
Wednesday, October 24, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- More than 20,000 residents of Mahoning County have already cast their ballots in the Nov. 6 election, about 2.5% of the 800,000 early voters statewide. By comparison, in Trumbull County 13,367 residents have voted, either by absentee mail ballots on in person at the county's elections board. In Columbiana County, the number of early voters totals 5,335.
The numbers, released Tuesday by Ohio's secretary of state, Jon Husted, reflect early voting through the close of business Friday, Oct. 19.
