Possibility of Military Draft Concerns Young Adults

Bush wants to reinstate the military draft, even though he and his challenger, Sen. John F. Kerry, have each insisted they oppose the idea, the University of Pennsylvania's National Annenberg Election Survey shows. Older respondents were more likely than younger respondents to know that neither Bush nor Kerry favors the draft.

Automakers' True Cost of Incentives Hits All-Time High
Thursday, October 07, 2004SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- Average manufacturer incentives per vehicle sold in the United States was $3,146 in September, up 15.6% from August and 20% from September 2003, according to Edmunds.com Inc. This is the highest industry average since Edmunds began tracking manufacturer incentives in January 2002, and Edmunds.com's experts believe incentives have never been higher.Overall, combined incentives spending for domestic Chrysler, Ford and General Motors nameplates was $4,279 per vehicle sold in September, up $428 from August and $661 from September 2003, the report found.
New Tech Schools Qualify Workers for Better Employment

The company plans to purchase and occupy the former Allegheny Steel building on Andrews Avenue, near downtown.
New Zogby Poll Finds Presidential Race Is Dead Heat

John Kerry are in a dead heat race for the White House -- with President Bush holding a slight edge, 46% to 44%, over Sen, Kerry, according to the first Reuters/Zogby poll. The telephone sample of 1,217 likely voters was conducted from Oct. 4 to Oct. 6. Overall results have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.9%."Remember this is larger than Bush vs. Kerry," observed pollster John Zogby. National City Offices Open on Columbus Day
