International Steel Group Achieves Record Shipments
RICHFIELD, Ohio -- International Steel Group Inc. (NYSE:ISG) today announced that it achieved record steel shipments during the third quarter of approximately 4,039,000 tons."Our record shipments reflect the continuing strength of the steel market and our increasing shipping capability resulting from our recent acquisitions of Weirton Steel and Georgetown Steel," said Rodney B. Mott, president and chief executive officer. "We are optimistic that economic and steel market conditions will remain strong in North America and globally for the near term."ISG's Weirton operation experienced a rapid and successful startup and Georgetown Steel is well on its way to reaching its planned level of production and shipments, Mott added."This is further evidence that we are rapidly becoming the leader in the North American steel industry," he asserted.International Steel Group Inc., one of the largest steel producers in North America, operates a coke plant in Warren. The company announced Sept. 13 that it was increasing its earnings outlook for the third quarter principally due to higher prices.
