"CEO's Confidence Dips, But Remains Strong"
Tuesday, July 06, 2004"NEW YORK -- CEO confidence in the nation's economy dipped in the second quarter compared to the first three months of 2004, The Conference Board reported today. "Despite the dip in overall confidence, CEOs are very upbeat about the outlook for the next six months," said Lynn Franco, director of The Conference Board's Consumer Research Center.
Akron U. Community and Technical College Renamed

Consumers Hit Internet Before Hitting the Road
Tuesday, July 06, 2004NEW YORK -- Two-thirds of consumers are using the Internet to make travel arrangements, and those who do are very satisfied, according to the latest Consumer Internet Barometer. This quarterly measure of who's doing what on the Internet is produced by TNS NFO and The Conference Board. That satisfaction is somewhat tempered by study data showing that consumers are using the Internet for researching more than actually booking their travel online.
Grove City College Razes President's House
Tuesday, July 06, 2004GROVE CITY, Pa. - The president's house at Grove City College, in existence since 1957, is being razed to make room for a new residence for President Richard G. Jewell and his wife, Dayl Jewell.Jewell will mark his first year as president in September. He and his wife have lived in the Cunningham House, a guest residence on lower campus, since their arrival at Grove City College last summer.The new residence will be built in the same location. Funds for the construction were donated through various gifts to the college.
Park Vista Re-accredited by CCAC
Tuesday, July 06, 2004YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Park Vista Retirement Community has been granted accreditation from the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission through June 2009. Park Vista is the only CCAC-accredited retirement facility in the Mahoning Valley, according to Mary Cochran, executive director."We are very pleased to have come through our accreditation with no recommendations for improvement," Cochran says. "There was not one recommendation in all of the Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Communities.
GM Allison Transmission to Supply Transmissions to China
Tuesday, July 06, 2004PONTIAC, MICH. -- General Motors Corp. and the Chinese New Era Corp. have signed a contract for the purchase of transmissions produced in Szentgotthárd, Hungary, a the Allison Transmission division of GM. Under the terms of the contract, which has a value of $10 million, Allison will provide transmissions this year to Chinese New Era Corp.A separate letter of intent covers the possible purchase of additional Allison transmissions next year and through 2008.
