Eastern Ohio Group Gets $175K Federal Grant
Friday, March 22, 2013WASHINGTON -- An eastern Ohio organization composed of 10 Ohio counties including Columbiana County was awarded a $174,495 federal grant to develop and implement a comprehensive economic development strategy for the region.
Announced by U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, the U.S. Economic Development Association grant was to the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association, which coordinates public-private partnerships to develop economic activity in Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Muskingum and Tuscarawas counties.
Kasich Appoints Humphries to Ohio Board of Regents
Friday, March 22, 2013BOARDMAN, Ohio -- Gov. John Kasich seized the perfect opportunity before a packed house at the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber's annual meeting Thursday to announce that he's appointed the organization's president, Tom Humphries, to the Ohio Board of Regents.
"I was hoping that I was going to be able to come here today and say that Tom Humphries was going to be our next Pope," Kasich said to laughter. "Somehow, they just didn't get it. But I want to announce for the first time we're putting Tom Humphries on the Board of Regents of the state of Ohio."

Sales of Houses in Ohio Jump 10.2% in February

Employers Awarded $860M Judgment Against BWC
Thursday, March 21, 2013CLEVELAND -- Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Richard J. McMonagle yesterday ordered the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation to reimburse more than 272,000 employers nearly $860 million dollars in overcharges. The judgment follows a hearing last week in which the BWC challenged the damages calculation. The court rejected the bureau’s arguments.
BWC says it will appeal McMonagle's decision.
