'Good Outcome' Expected for Racing License Transfer
Thursday, March 21, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Ohio State Racing Commission member Mark Munroe said he expects a “good outcome” when the commission meets next week to consider Penn National Gaming Inc.’s application to transfer the thoroughbred license from its racetrack near Columbus to Austintown.
Munroe, who was appointed to the state panel in 2011, said he is pleased with Penn National's presentation yesterday at the commission's meeting in Columbus.
7 Projects Share $4.5M in NAMII Funding
Thursday, March 21, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute announced Wednesday that seven applied research and development projects will share $4.5 million in funding as a result of NAMII’s first project call.
The awarded projects ”span a variety of metals and polymer additive manufacturing processes and materials with near-term technical achievements impacting multiple key markets within a few months,” NAMII officials said in a news release announcing the awards. The project teams will provide matching funds totaling $5 million.
Latest Well Permits Issued in Columbiana, Mercer Counties
Thursday, March 21, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued eight new permits last week for oil and gas exploration in the Utica shale, one of them for Columbiana County.
At the same time, interest in developing the Utica in nearby Mercer County, Pa., continues as the state Department of Environmental Protection last week awarded three new permits for horizontal wells there, records show.

Trumbull and Mahoning counties have comprehensive services in place, while Columbiana County has "some," the survey found.
