Thomas Steel Strip Files Trade Action with ITC
Friday, March 29, 2013WARREN, Ohio -- Spurred by a petition filed yesterday from a local steel company, the U.S. International Trade Commission has launched a preliminary investigation as to whether Japan has violated U.S. antidumping laws.
Thomas Steel Strip Corp., a division of the Indian conglomerate Tata Group, yesterday filed a petition with the ITC requesting it investigate whether Japan has engaged in dumping diffusion-annealed, nickel-plated flat-rolled steel products on the U.S. market.
Hundreds of Miles of Ohio Wells Drilled in 2012
Friday, March 29, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A report issued by the Ohio Oil and Gas Association shows that nearly 670 miles of wells were drilled across Ohio last year, and its likely that number will be even higher in 2013 as the Utica shale is further developed.
"I think the activity is going to slowly and steadily increase with success," observed Peter MacKenzie, director of operations for the Ohio Oil and Gas Association, who presented the findings at the organization's recent annual winter meeting in Columbus.
Cleanup Contractor Says D&L Near Bankruptcy
Friday, March 29, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sunpro Inc., the company contracted by D&L Energy to clean up wastewater dumped into a tributary of the Mahoning River, is suing D&L and its president, Nicholas C. Paparodis, for more than $1 million in damages in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court, documents show.
Sunpro has also asked the court for an injunction to halt D&L from selling its assets, specifically its interest in an injection well in North Lima.
Teamsters Strike Allied, Garbage Not Collected

The company’s most recent agreement with the union expired Oct. 31, and hourly employees have been working without a contract since then.
City Awards $721K Contract for Paramount Demolition

The city Board of Control approved a $721,000 contract with Baumann Enterprises Inc., Cleveland, for demolition and abatement work at the West Federal Street site.
