Eastern Gateway Announces Half-Off Tuition Program

The community college announced a new program Monday that would cut tuition in half for new students who enroll for at least six hours of credit courses at the downtown campus.

Carrizo Sells Trumbull, Mercer Leases for $43M
Monday, October 15, 2012HOUSTON – Carrizo Oil & Gas Inc. has sold the majority interest its mineral leases in Trumbull County, Ohio, and Mercer and Crawford counties in Pennsylvania to an unidentified third party for net cash proceeds of $43 million. Assets included in the sale are an existing drilling pad and approved well drilling permits associated with the leases.
The energy company announced the transaction this morning.
Lease Payments Climb as Oil, Gas Prices Drop
Monday, October 15, 2012TULSA, Okla. – Oil and gas bonus lease rates paid to mineral owners are rising, despite overall drops in oil and gas prices, and in the Utica shale region of Ohio, per-acre payments range as high as $8,200, finds a new report by Farmers National Co., an oil and gas management firm based here.
By comparison, lease bonus rates in Oklahoma were as high as $15,000 in the third quarter, the report states; in North Dakota, $14,000 and in Texas $13,000.
3-County Auto Sales Drop 8.3% During September
Monday, October 15, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sales of new vehicles among dealerships in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties fell during September, according to the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio's monthly report.
Sales of new cars and trucks in the Mahoning Valley stood at 1,924 during the month compared to 2,100 in September 2011, an 8.3% decrease, the report showed.
Combined sales of new and used vehicles also slowed during the month, ADEAO reported. New and used-vehicle sales totaled 5,069 in September versus 5,523 last year, a drop of 8.2%.
Business Economists See More Slow Growth in 2013
Monday, October 15, 2012WASHINGTON – The economists who responded to a survey by the National Association of Business Economists expect “tepid growth” the remainder of this year and through 2013 but for the economy to reach a 3% pace by the fourth quarter of next year.
“The outlook is for tepid, albeit improving economic growth,” NABE said, with real GDP (gross domestic product) growth to rise just 1.9% by year-end and 2.4% in 2013. GDP growth should accelerate each quarter.
