Youngstown-Warren Air Service Initiative Nears $3.6M in Pledges
Friday, October 12, 2012VIENNA, Ohio – Seventy businesses and individuals have stepped up and pledged nearly $3.6 million toward a campaign to reestablish regularly scheduled commercial air service to the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport, officials say.
The effort, called the Travel Bank-Air Service Initiative, has raised $3.58 million since the campaign was announced in late August, reports Dan Dickten, director of aviation.

Friday, October 12, 2012NEW CASTLE, Pa. – The abundance of natural gas being tapped from the Utica and the Marcellus shale plays has helped lure a $750 million investment from a Missouri-based power company that wants to build a gas-fired electrical plant in North Beaver Township.
"They'd like to be in operation by late 2016 or early 2017," Jim Gagliano, township administrator, said of LS Power of St. Louis, the company looking to build the plant.

City Approves $450K for NAMII, Incubator Work
Friday, October 12, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The city’s Board of Control Thursday approved $450,000 in assistance for the new National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute and its affiliate, the Youngstown Business Incubator.
A little under half of that total -- $200,000 -- represents the city’s share of the $40 million in matching funds required to secure the $30 million in federal funds for the institute, said T. Sharon Woodberry, city economic development director. “The city’s match is to help with all the building improvements that are happening at the site,” she said.
RTI Marks Start of New Plant in Virginia
Friday, October 12, 2012PITTSBURGH – RTI International Metals Inc., which has a plant in Niles, Ohio, marked the start of production of certified commercial aerospace aluminum titanium at its new $135 million forging, grinding and hot-rolling manufacturing plant in Martinsville, Va.
Key executives of Airbus, which will use much of the factory’s titanium output to produce passenger jets, and Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell joined RTI officials for the ceremony marking the launch.
Spending on Halloween Doesn’t Spook Americans

Total Halloween spending is expected to reach $8 billion, according to the National Retail Federation's 2012 Halloween consumer spending survey.

“Gambling income, like any other income not specifically exempted, is generally taxable,” said Jennifer Jenkins, IRS spokeswoman. “That includes winnings from lotteries, raffles, horse races and casinos. It also includes cash winnings and the fair market value of prizes, such as cars and trips.”
