WARREN, Ohio -- A new R.N. to B.S.N. program from the Kent State University College of Nursing will be offered at its Trumbull Campus in Champion Township beginning with the fall 2013 semester. Public information sessions will be held Tuesday and Wednesday with advisers on hand to answer questions.
The program is intended to help meet local demand within the health care industry for nurses to earn their baccalaureates by 2020. Coursework consists of both online and classroom instruction, offering students direct access to an experienced group of instructors, says Kathy Dwinnells, nursing program coordinator for Kent Trumbull.
The program has a limited space and students can enroll now for for the prerequisite classes and electives for spring 2013. “The program will assist registered nurses in their pursuit of professional development while doing so with the affordability offered by a Kent State regional campus,” Dwinnells says.
The KSU College of Nursing is the largest nursing school in Ohio. At present, 43% of the nursing workforce in northeastern Ohio graduated from the Kent State nursing program. Since its inception in 1967, the college of nursing has conferred 10,210 degrees on more than 9,600 alumni.
The information sessions will be held at Kent Trumbull’s Technology Building (Room 117) from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday and 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. For more information, call 330 675 8906.
