Ohio Workers' Comp Expands Safety Training Options
Monday, December 03, 2012COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Directors of the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation have given employers participating in the Group Experience and Group Retrospective Rating programs more options to improve workplace safety. The change allows employers who have had a workplace injury to satisfy some safety training requirements by completing an accident analysis and related safety training.

Gulfport Lands Permits for Harrison County Wells
Friday, November 30, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Oklahoma City-based Gulfport Energy Inc., which has drilled the most productive oil and gas wells in the Utica shale to date (READ STORY), has received two new permits to drill in Harrison County.
Gulfport was awarded two horizontal drill permits for oil and gas exploration on the Lyon property in Washington Township on Nov. 23, according to records from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Halcon Pledges to Work with Lordstown Landowners
Friday, November 30, 2012LORDSTOWN, Ohio – Houston-based Halcon Resources Corp. says it has acquired an undisclosed amount of leased acres in the Lordstown area and is pledging to spend "hundreds of millions" of dollars to develop oil and gas exploration in the Utica shale.
In a statement issued Thursday, Halcon acknowledged it acquired the leases from an unidentified operator "that did not have the desire or ability to develop the deeper formations," but had the right to transfer the interests because gas and oil production was under way from shallower wells it owned.
