BWC Would Return $112.8M to Schools, Governments
Tuesday, May 14, 2013COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Gov. John Kasich’s proposal to rebate $1 billion rebate would return $112.8 million to nearly 3,800 municipal and county governments and schools. Kasich’s proposal would also tripling safety grants to $15 million and reduce rates 4% for public employees and 2% for private employers.
The proposed rebates and reforms are made possible by larger-than-expected fund balances generated by strong investment management, noted Steve Buehrer, BWC CEO/administrator.

Harness Race to Give Young Horses a Tryout

In harness racing terms, a “matinee” traditionally indicates a nonwagering event, according to Jim Criss, association president. The purpose of the morning event is to allow young horses to race in an exercise/training mile that will be their first experience of leaving the starting gate and to give the public a chance to see how the horses are prepared for a race.

New and Used Vehicle Sales Up 12% in Mahoning Valley
Monday, May 13, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Sales of new cars and trucks in the Mahoning Valley increased 15.7% during April compared to the same period last year, reports the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio.
Dealers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties reported total new sales of 2,489 during the month versus 2,150 sold last year, according to ADEAO's monthly report.
Combined sales of new and used vehicles were also higher for the month, dealers say. New and used vehicle-sales stood at 6,388 compared to 5,701 sold in April 2012, an increase of 12%.
