YSU Sustainable Energy Forum Set for June 3, 4
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The fifth annual Youngstown State University Sustainable Energy Forum is set for June 3 and 4 in Kilcawley Center. The forum will feature more than 200 academicians, energy industry leaders, government officials and entrepreneurs.
The forum offers presentations and panel discussions on topics that range from the responsible use of water in industry and vehciles using natural gas instead of gasoline and diesel to the economic impact of shale development and advances in sustainable bio-jet fuel. The forum will also offer an Energy Expo that features displays of products and technologies by energy industry innovators.
The forum focuses on sustainable and clean energy technologies successfully implemented in the region, natural gas and water resources and the impact additive manufacturing might have on energy and energy technology.
Conference speakers scheduled are Ed Morris, director of the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute; Matthew Moran, manager of energy and materials at NASA Glenn Research Center; Craig Blue, director of the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory; Dave Mrowinski, program manager for IGS Energy CNG Services, Ohio state Rep. Sean O’Brien; Kelly Visconti, technology manager, Advanced Manufacturing Office, U.S. Department of Energy; Cynthia Powell, director, Office of Research and Development, National Energy Technology Laboratory; Mike Wise of the McDonald Hopkins Law Firm; Scott Coye-Huhn, vice president of Aloterra Energy; Steve Csonka, director of Commercial Aviation Alternative Fuels Initiative; Raymond Evans, vice president of environmental for First Energy; Chris Jaskiewicz, vice president of Valley Electrical Consolidated Inc.; Dave Karpinski, vice president of the Lake Erie Energy Development Corp.; and Dave Nestic, executive for regional operations, Techbelt Energy Innovation Center.
The panel discussion on “The Responsible Use of Water in Industry” will constitute Steve McKnight of Fourth Economy Consulting; Sam Johnson, director of water asset development for Consol Energy; Doug Wyatt of the National Energy Technology Laboratory; and Jack Adams and Leo Zappa of Calgon Carbon.
The Minddrive Vehicle, a Kansas City-based after-school program where students design electric vehicles, will have a display.
