Some Wells Flowing Here, Others in Testing Mode
Saturday, August 17, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- As companies such as Halcon Resources Corp. heap praise over early results of wells recently drilled and tested in Trumbull County, others are methodically assessing the potential of this northern tier of the Utica before they make any major commitments.
Meantime, others have shifted their focus from the north to counties in the southeastern portion of the state where the results have – at least for now – proven more productive.
Report: Larger White House Role in GM Bankruptcy
Friday, August 16, 2013WASHINGTON -- A report office by office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program found that the Obama Administration took a larger role than represented earlier in the General Motors bankruptcy case.
Salaried employees of Delphi, a GM parts supplier and former subsidiary, have charged that the administration ‘s intervention resulted in differences in how pension funds for unionized and salaried workers were handled during the courts of the GM bankruptcy, picking “winners and losers.”
Salem Community Hospital Names Interim CEO
Friday, August 16, 2013SALEM, Ohio --The board of directors of Salem Community Hospital today announced it has accepted the resignation of Steven Ruwoldt as president and CEO, and appointed Anita Hackstedde, M.D., as interim president/CEO effective immediately.
No reason was given for Ruwoldt's departure. All that was said in a news release was this statement by Derek Hiscox, chairman of the board: “On behalf of the entire board, I want to thank Steve Ruwoldt for his service to the hospital during the past year."
Hiscox thanked Hackstedde for accepting the interim appointment.
City Share of 2013 Concessions Tops 2012 Total
Friday, August 16, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The city received $210,622 from food and beverage sales at the Covelli Centre so far this year, more than its total take for 2012.
JAC Management Group, which oversees the arenas under a management contract with the city, owner of the building, last year entered into an agreement to take over food and concessions operations at the arena. Warren-based Covelli Enterprises, the current naming rights sponsor, assists JAC in an advisory capacity.
Ohio Unemployment Rate Stays at 7.2% in July
Friday, August 16, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Ohio’s unemployment rate in July was 7.2%, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported today. The July unemployment rate was unchanged from the month before, as well as from the July 2012 rate.
The number of workers unemployed in Ohio last month was 416,000, up 3,000 from 413,000 in June. The number of unemployed has increased by 1,000 over the past 12 months from 415,000.

Perfecta Launches 3 Products to Soothe Skin Woes
Friday, August 16, 2013NORTH LIMA, Ohio -- Perfecta Products Inc. has launched three new products to treat skin problems, two versions of Zim’s Advanced plus Zim’s Arnica Max, its director of marketing and sales, Mark Smith, announced Thursday.
Zim’s Advanced with Hydrocortisone can be used to relieve several skin afflictions that include rashes, insect bites, eczema and psoriasis, Smith says, while Zim’s Advanced Gel with Acemannan can be used to treat cuts, scrapes, abrasions and burns.
Both are sold in 3-ounce tubes while the Advanced with Hydrocortisone is available in a 3.25-ounce spray.
