Chamber Urges Defeat of Anti-Fracking Amendment
Friday, September 27, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber Board of Directors has given its support the Mahoning Valley Coalition for Job Growth and Investment’s efforts to defeat another anti-oil-and-gas charter amendment in Youngstown.
Last May, the coalition worked to defeat a similar measure on the city ballot.
The board’s resolution backs the coalition’s opposition to the anti-fracking amendment on the November ballot, saying the so-called Community Bill of Rights is a bad idea, said Tom Humphries, chamber president and CEO.

City Awards Grants to Learning Egg, Potential Development
Friday, September 27, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -– Learning Egg LLC plans to add 32 full-time jobs over the next three years through a $514,750 expansion that city officials will provide $100,000 to help finance. The city’s Board of Control approved the performance grant, through the Youngstown Initiative program, at Thursday’s meeting.
The board also approved a Youngstown Initiative performance grant not to exceed $73,150 to Potential Development Program Inc. to help fund its $365,750 renovation of the former Anthem building on Market Street into a high school serving students with autism.
Northside Docs Attest to Quality in Public Letter

“Three consecutive years of enrollment declines, combined with consistent reductions in state operating appropriations, has resulted in a significant structural budget deficit that requires us to immediately implement cost savings measures,” said the president of YSU, Randy J. Dunn. “These measures, while extensive, will allow us to balance our budget without impacting academic and student services.”
