Northside Files Unfair Labor Charges, Threatens Firings
Monday, September 23, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Northside Medical Center is filing unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board that challenges the validity of the Ohio Nurses Association’s 10-day notices of its intention to commence a strike (READ STORY) at Northside Medical Center. And should the nurses proceed with their one-day strike, scheduled for Tuesday, they "could lose their employment status," the hospital warns.

Monday, September 23, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Officials throughout the Mahoning Valley already are looking to a study of the Route 422 corridor area in the cities of Girard and Youngstown as a potential model for redevelopment efforts in their communities, Tom Humphries said.
Humphries, CEO of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, was among area leaders on hand Friday for the announcement of the plan to study a 3,500-acre area surrounding the Route 422 corridor in the two counties. The plan is to capitalize on the momentum provided by Vallourec Star's $1.2 billion investment in the area, he said.

TRO Ends Strike Against Wheeling & Lake Erie
Monday, September 23, 2013CLEVELAND -- Within hours of a strike that began Friday morning by locomotive engineers and trainmen against the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway (READ STORY), a federal judge in Akron issued a temporary restraining order that ended the walkout. The workers are represented by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen.
The strike was triggered by WLE’s use of supervisors to perform the work of the engineers and the trainmen, the union said.
