Kennedy’s declaration that America would reach the moon in a decade, U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson said Monday.
America landed the first astronauts on the moon within seven years, sooner than the 10 years Kennedy promised, “because he engaged every fabric of our society,” Johnson, R-6 Ohio, said as he spoke to the audience of assembled seniors at the Austintown Senior Center.
New Website Highlights Effects of Ohio Budget Cuts
Friday, August 03, 2012COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A new website, CutsHurtOhio.com, highlights the effects of historically deep budget cuts to Mahoning County and Ohio, state Rep. Robert Hagan, D-60 Youngstown, said Thursday.
The website, he said, illustrates how Gov. John Kasich's "backwards priorities are severely hurting our community.
“At a time when families are struggling to make ends meet, Gov. Kasich and Republican legislators cut $34 million from education and $18 million from local governments in Mahoning County,” Hagan stated.

Labor Department OKs Help for RG Steel Workers
Thursday, July 26, 2012WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor approved retraining and health-care assistance for more than 1,000 workers at RG Steel, which has a mill in Warren.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, announced Wednesday that workers have been certified to receive Trade Adjustment Assistance to help them to transition to new jobs, if necessary, along with the Health Coverage Tax Credit. RG Steel, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy May 31, also has plants in Yorkville, Mingo Junction and Martin’s Ferry, Ohio, as well as in West Virginia and Maryland.
