One of the national co-chairmen of President Obama’s reelection campaign, Strickland headlined a local stop of the “Romney Economics: Wrong for the Middle Class” bus tour here Monday as the campaign for Obama’s opponent, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, visited the Mahoning Valley to drum up local support.
Dems Blast Husted for Planned Appearance
Monday, August 27, 2012COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Democrats' denounciations of Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted’s scheduled appearance at a statewide summit for a group accused of voter intimidation tactics aimed at minority voters may have convinced Husted to change his mind.
Husted had been among the speakers scheduled at Saturday’s True the Vote summit in Worthington. That morning, True the Vote issued a news release announcing that Husted was no longer in the lineup of speakers and was replaced by state Sen. Bill Seitz, R-8 Green Township.

That came courtesy of Paul Ryan, named less than a week ago as running mate for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney. The Wisconsin congressman stopped by the iconic downtown restaurant for a quick lunch following a speech at Walsh University earlier in the day.
Husted's Early-Voting Decision Riles Ohio Dems
Thursday, August 16, 2012COLUMBUS, Ohio – Secretary of State Jon Husted set statewide uniform hours for early voting Wednesday, taking the decision out of the hands of local boards of elections.
The decision followed controversy over decisions by Husted to break ties between Democrats and Republicans on county boards of elections, limiting early voting to regular office hours in counties that traditionally vote Democratic.
