Mahoning, Trumbull to Consider Extended Voting Hours
Wednesday, August 15, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Mahoning County Board of Elections is expected to consider Monday whether to offer extended voting hours in the weeks leading up to the general election, and the Trumbull County board likely will take up the matter next month.
The boards' contemplations come under increased scrutiny, in the run-up to this year’s presidential election, due to recent controversy surrounding the extensions of hours in Republican counties of the state and shorter hours in areas that typically vote Democratic.
Ohio Voters Can Change Their Addresses Online
Wednesday, August 15, 2012COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Secretary of State Jon Husted has launched a new online service that allows registered voters in Ohio to update their voting address online. The service was designed to help voters be registered where they reside 30 days before an election.
The most common reason voters cast a provisional ballot on Election Day is they have not updated their address when they move. Provisional voters’ ballots must be verified for eligibility in the days following an election before they can be included in the official tally.
