St. E’s Earns Surgical Spine Center Designation

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- St. Elizabeth Health Center has been designated a UnitedHealth Premium Surgical Spine Specialty Center. The center earned a three-star rating -- the highest possible.
“This is great news,” said Diana Kelly, spine navigator at St. Elizabeth. “This designation is based on the quality and efficiency of our pre-operative and post-operative care as well as the overall outcomes of our spine patients.
Akron Children’s Hospital Launches $200M Expansion

AKRON, Ohio -- Called “Building on the Promise,” the $200 million expansion project at the headquarters campus of Akron Children's Hospital here results from significant growth in the number of patients who use its services, officials say. Construction is scheduled to begin in next spring and be competed in 2015.
YMCA, Akron Children's Launch Fitness Club for Kids

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Both the Central YMCA and the Davis Family YMCA are gearing up for their newest fitness program for kids between the ages of 8 and 13. Akron Children's Hospital, in partnership with Kohl's Department Stores, has introduced Future Fitness Club at the Y to address the childhood obesity epidemic.
Ohio Ranks 13th Among States for Obesity

WASHINGTON -- Twelve states have an adult obesity rate above 30%, a new study has found. Ohio and Pennsylvania have rates of 29.6% and 28.6%, respectively, ranking them 13th and 20th.
World Breastfeeding Awareness Week Kicks Off
