OfficeMax Co-founder Is Williamson Speaker Sept. 18
Tuesday, September 02, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Michael Feuer, co-founder and former CEO of OfficeMax, will speak at Youngstown State University Sept. 18 as part of the Williamson Symposium Series. Feuer is CEO and managing director of Max-Ventures, a private equity and consulting firm.
Feuer will speak at 2 and 6 p.m. in the auditorium of Williamson Hall as part of the “executive on campus” program at the Williamson College of Business Administration. The sessions are free and open to the public.
Westminster Grant to Help Potential STEM Teachers
Tuesday, September 02, 2014NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Westminster College has been awarded a $1.027 million grant through the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program of the National Science Foundation, the college announces.
Funds will be spent on strengthening STEM skills and qualifications within the region's high-need high schools. STEM is the acronym for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Eastern Gateway Gets OK to Offer Degrees Online
Friday, August 29, 2014STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Higher Learning Commission has given the green light to Eastern Gateway Community College to offer online degree programs. The first to be developed are the associate of arts, associate of science and associate of applied science degrees.
The Higher Learning Commission is under the aegis of the North Central Association.
“We are planning to have the associate of arts online degree ready by the spring semester," said James Baber, executive vice president of academic and student affairs, in a prepared statement.
YSU Penguins: Focus, Management, Playoff Push

For the past three seasons, the Youngstown State football team has been one win away from making the playoffs. This year, the feeling is playoffs or bust.
With three games left on the schedule last season, the Penguins walked away with three losses, eliminating any chance of making their first postseason appearance since 2006.
And the head coach knows what happened during that three-game stretch and what must be avoided this year.

“They have to adjust to me. I don’t have to adjust to them.”
After a 15-year career with stops at Louisville, Penn State and Florida, where he won a national title with Urban Meyer, Carter is back as a coach at the Football Championship Subdivision level. Before spring practice, he joined the football coaching staff at Youngstown State as wide receivers coach and special teams cocoordinator.
