Winner CEO Named to Panel

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The CEO of Sharon-based Winner International, Karen Winner Sed, has been appointed by Gov. Tom Corbett to a panel formed to study how to make higher education accessible and affordable to the students and the taxpayers of Pennsylvania.

"We need to open the discussion about how best to finance higher education in this state," Corbett said in a prepared statement.

Eberts Give $25,000 to Poland Schools

POLAND, Ohio -- Dr. Daniel N. Ebert and his wife, Ruth, have given the Poland Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence $25,000. The funds will be used in support of science education at Poland Seminary High School.

It is the largest single gift to the foundation in its 20-year history, according to Dennis LaRue, foundation president. While the Eberts have given the foundation the $25,000 in a lump sum, they instructed that it be disbursed in 10 annual installments of $2,500.

94% of Grove City Grads Land Jobs in 6 Months

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College graduates boasted a 94% placement rate in jobs or graduate school within the first six months of graduation last year. The results point to the quality education of Grove City College students and dedicated work of the College’s Career Services Office, officials said.

“Many of our students are competing against experienced candidates, and our students are very well prepared,” noted Dr. Jim Thrasher, director of career services, associate professor of biblical and religious studies and humanities and a 1980 Grove City graduate.
