Companies Take Tutorial on Oil and Gas Certification
Wednesday, April 10, 2013BOARDMAN, Ohio – David Hughes can't understand why a two-day introductory course on how companies go about obtaining the American Petroleum Institute's certification to do business with the oil and gas industry wasn't packed.
"Right now is the time to get in on this," said Hughes, president of Specialty Fab Inc. in North Lima. "A lot of people who are going to try to get into this work later are going to find out that they're nine months to a year behind because they weren't here."
Utica Supply Chain Firms Seek API Certification
Tuesday, April 09, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Six companies from the five-county region, as well as one from Painesville and another from Akron, want to know what it takes to become certified and emerge as a major player in the oil and gas supply chain.
Nine representatives from these eight companies have signed on to take the American Petroleum Institute's API Spec Q1 Training, a two-day course designed to give companies a better understanding of the industry's quality-assurance requirements.
Pa. Shale Impact Fees Raise $400 Million

New Permits for Lawrence, Columbiana Counties
Thursday, April 04, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Royal Dutch Shell subsidiary Shell Western E&P Inc., or SWEPI, advanced its drilling interests in Lawrence County, Pa., as the energy company last week was awarded three new horizontal permits for wells in North Beaver Township, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
SWEPI obtained three permits for horizontal wells on the Kephart property near the intersection of Enon and Mount Jackson Roads. One well has already been drilled at the site.
