Industry Group: Injection Wells 'Misunderstood'
Thursday, May 09, 2013WINDHAM, Ohio -- Representatives of the Ohio Oil And Gas Association, or OOGA, say that the fears and concerns associated with Class II injection wells across the state are unfounded. To prove their contention, they demonstrated for reporters just how routine the practice is.
"It's really underwhelming," said OOGA Vice President David Hill, who also owns three injection wells in Ohio and production operations in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. "They're very misunderstood. It's easy to fear what you don't know."
New Permits for Utica Wells in Trumbull, Lawrence
Wednesday, May 08, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Houston-based Halcon Resources Corp. has secured a permit to drill a new horizontal well in Vienna Township as the company continues its exploration in Trumbull County and portions of western Pennsylvania.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources reports that Halcon Resources, a subsidiary Halcon Operating Co. Inc., was awarded a permit April 29 to drill a new Utica well -- the Avalon 1H -- in Vienna Township in Trumbull County in a 209-acre unit.
EQT to Buy Chesapeake Marcellus Assets for $113M
Friday, May 03, 2013PITTSBURGH -- EQT Corp. has signed a definitive agreement to purchase roughly 99,000 acres in southwestern Pennsylvania and 10 wells for approximately $113 million from Chesapeake Energy Corp., the company announced Friday.
The deal calls for EQT to pay $53 million for horizontal wells in Washington County, Pa., and $60 million for acreage spanning the Marcellus and Utica shale gas plays.
