Pennsylvania Launches Online Mine Map Viewer
Friday, May 31, 2013HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has launched the Pennsylvania Mine Map Atlas, an online underground mine map viewer. The atlas allows residents and stakeholders to see detailed maps of underground mines once available only in hard copies.
"DEP is now providing public access to a wealth of information about undermined areas, enhancing our ability to safeguard structures in Pennsylvania's mining regions," said Gov. Tom Corbett in a prepared statement.
New Utica Well Permits for Columbiana County
Thursday, May 30, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued three new permits last week to Chesapeake Energy Corp. to drill horizontal wells that target the Utica shale formation in Columbiana County, records show.
Two of those wells are planned for Franklin Township at the Pitts farm, ODNR data say. The other well is slated for Hanover Township at the Altenhof property.
Halcón Reports Utica Operating Results
Wednesday, May 29, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The CEO of Houston-based Halcón Resources Corp. reports the energy exploration company is “excited with our early stage Utica/Point Pleasant results” and its “focus remains on building an inventory of approved/permitted multi-well pads in preparation for a full scale development program.”
Floyd C. Wilson offered the upbeat assessment in a prepared statement released last week as part of Halcón’s operational update.
