Ryan Secures Subcommittee Seat with BRAC Oversight

Tim Ryan today announced he has received a prime subcommittee seat that will enable him to keep close watch on the upcoming base closing process as he lobbies to keep open the Youngstown Air Reserve Station.Ryan was appointed to the Readiness Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee. The subcommittee was Ryan's first choice, he said, because it has oversight over the Base Re-Alignment and Closure (BRAC) process."The BRAC process is going to be extremely competitive," Ryan said.
Neshannock Business Park Gets $2.25M State Loan
Wednesday, February 02, 2005"HARRISBURG, Pa. -- A $2.25 million loan to fund construction of 127,070-square-foot building at the Neshannock Business Park in New Castle, Pa., was approved yesterday by the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority. The loan was one of two announced by Dennis Yablonsky, secretary of the Pa. Department of Community and Economic Development. The other loan, in the amount of $800,000, will assist American Brochure and Catalog Co.

Cobalt Drives GM's Car Sales Higher in January
Wednesday, February 02, 2005DETROIT -- Labor and management at General Motors Corp.'s Lordstown complex can take a bow for a job well done, as the launch of the new Chevrolet Cobalt was largely responsible for fueling the automaker's overall increase in car sales last month.New car sales at GM rose 2% in January, the company reported yesterday, citing strong sales of the Lordstown-produced Cobalt as a significant factor. Chevrolet's total vehicle sales were up 13% in January, with a 33% improvement in car sales. Entry-level car sales were up 9%, led by the Cobalt and Aveo. Cobalt sales jumped 32% over December.

RTI Metals Posts Net Loss of $2.8 Million
Wednesday, February 02, 2005NILES, Ohio -- RTI International Metals Inc. posted a net loss of $2.8 million, or 13 cents per share, for 2004, officials reported yesterday. Sales for the year totaled $214.6 million. Results for the 2003 were net income of $4.7 million, or 23 cents per share, on sales of $195 million. Both 2004 and 2003 included payments under a supply agreement that required minimum purchases by The Boeing Co., resulting in other income of approximately $9 million and $8 million, respectively. The fourth quarter of 2004 resulted in a loss of $3.9 million, or 18 cents per share, on sales of $60.9 million.

"It is a much bigger problem than I initially perceived," she said. "I was just astounded by the number of people without housing."As the coordinator of the center's Homeless Management Information System, Boyles is working to help lower those numbers.
