Tour of the Valley Prepares for Return
Friday, June 29, 2012The Tour of the Valley is racing back to Youngstown this July for its fourth year, and it’s bringing more life to Youngstown, promoters say.
The 3-day competitive biking event, which runs July 13-15, attracts professional, elite and amateur cyclists in a stage-race format that brings in cyclists from all over the country including states such as Texas, Georgia, and Massachusetts.
Christian Elected President of Mahoning Bar Association
Wednesday, June 27, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Shirley J. Christian has been elected president of the Mahoning County Bar Association, a professional society of attorneys with more than 500 members.
Christian, a partner in the firm of Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell, is only the second woman to be elected president of the bar association. Kathy McNabb Welsh, county deputy clerk of courts, was the first, elected in 2002.
Valley Legacy Awards Nominations Open
Wednesday, June 27, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Nominations are being sought for the 2012 Valley Legacy Awards. Open to seniors and senior advocates in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, the awards are presented to recognize people age 60 years of age or older who deserve recognition for a lifetime of working to improve the Mahoning Valley, as well as to individuals who have provided exceptional support for older Americans through their professional, volunteer or civic roles.
Nominations are being accepted for Outstanding Senior and Outstanding Senior Advocate, and must be postmarked by July 31.
