Local Collaboration Projects Get State Funding
Wednesday, June 06, 2012COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Projects in Trumbull and Columbiana counties will share in more than $6.3 million in grants and loans to Ohio communities. The funds are designed to help consolidate services, improve efficiencies and, ultimately, cut costs.
The state Local Government Innovation Council approved a loan of $500,000 to the Trumbull County engineer’s office for a salt storage and joint purchasing initiative and $100,000 to the Columbiana County recorder's office for digitizing, redacting and local/remote access of land records.

YSU, Art Youngstown to Fly 'Twenty-Twelve Flags'
Thursday, May 31, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Summer Festival of the Arts is collaborating with Art Youngstown Inc. to produce and exhibit a third public art project called “Twenty-Twelve Flags.” Artists are invited to incorporate their idea of a flag design to be displayed during Youngstown State University’s Summer Festival of the Arts, which takes place July 7 and 8.
Graduation Gift-Giving to Top $4.7B This Year
Tuesday, May 29, 2012WASHINGTON -- As graduates from across the country take that memorable walk to grab their diplomas, loved ones are planning to make their big day extra special this year. Americans will dole out $99.94 on gifts this year, up by $9 from 2011.
One-third of Americans will buy graduation gifts, a rise from 30.7% in 2011, according to the National Retail Federation's 2012 graduation survey. Gift givers also will buy for an average of two graduates.
