Pa. Extends Reduction of Rates on Business Loans

The new rates initially were in place for applications received through March 31 and the three-month extension will apply the new rate to applications received through June 30.

Teamsters Back to Work; Landfill Workers Are Not
Wednesday, April 03, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Drivers with Teamsters Local 377 this morning returned to their jobs with Republic Services/Allied Waste, although workers at the company's Carbon Limestone Landfill remain on strike, the company reported minutes ago.
"We appreciate the patience of our customers during these past few days," said Doug Dunn, Youngstown general manager, in a statement issued by the company. "Republic Services/Allied Waste will continue to negotiate in good faith to secure a workable contract agreement."

Talks Resume as GE Lamp Plant Workers Rally
Wednesday, April 03, 2013WARREN, Ohio – Representatives of labor and management at General Electric’s Ohio Lamp Plant spent much of Tuesday in contract talks as workers staged an afternoon rally rally in support of keeping the plant open.
The discussions at the plant followed Monday night’s rejection by members IUE-CWA Local 722 of an agreement, backed by management and the union, intended to preserve operations at the plant by bringing in a new product line.

City Council to Consider Hiring Planning Consultant
Wednesday, April 03, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – City Council tonight will consider an ordinance to advertise and enter into an agreement with a consultant to provide planning services for a downtown and major corridor plan. The objective is to revitalize the business districts along the city’s major corridors, including Market Street, Mahoning Avenue and Glenwood Avenue, and hopefully stimulate business along those arteries.
The ordinance is sponsored by members Annie Gillam, D-4th Ward. Paul Drennen, D-5th Ward, and Janet Tarpley, D-6th Ward.
