Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership Gets Grant for Mural
Monday, July 07, 2014WARREN, Ohio -- Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership was awarded a $2,735 grant by the Ohio Arts Council, which will help pay a $6,000 stipend for installation of a mural on a retainer wall at the former Morningside Power Plant.
“This grant allows us to commission a local artist to install a mural on this site, using a public selection process which will allow our community to help us choose the mural,” says Lisa Ramsey, development director at TNP.
Power of the Arts to Hold Town Hall Friday
Monday, July 07, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Power of the Arts, a community arts and culture organization, will host a town hall meeting at 3 p.m. Friday in Bliss Hall of Youngsatown State University.
Sponsors will present the findings of a survey of arts and culture organizations. Artists will get an update about Power of the Arts efforts in Columbus.
Power of the Arts is seeking to amend the Ohio Revised Code so that counties with populations of fewer than 1.2 million can use the proceeds of a tax they would impose on cigarettes to establish a sustainable fund for cultural activities.
Company Addresses Council about Radioactive Waste
Thursday, July 03, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A company using Industrial Waste Control Inc.'s plant on Sinter Court to monitor radiation levels in waste generated from drilling operations reports that every container it’s tested has been within regulatory limits and poses no threat to the public.
If anything, Austin Master Services Inc. wants to ensure any waste moving into landfills in the region is free of such contaminants and the public's safety is secure, Pete Collopy said.
Ohio Gas Production Doubles in Year's Time

“Facebook is my secret guerrilla marketing tool,” the owner of Hubbard Music remarked. “I'm able to sell things to people that aren't near me just because … we connect [on Facebook]. I've been able to cover greater and greater distances.”
Tirabassi was among three owners of Mahoning Valley businesses who were invited to speak before 275 small business owners about their recent success with Facebook at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center.
