BOC Water Hydraulics Celebrates Expansion
Monday, October 01, 2012SALEM, Ohio -- BOC Water Hydraulics Inc. had considerable demand for the high-pressure water equipment it manufactures and services, says its president, Todd Olson. What it lacked is capacity to meet that demand.
That restraint is now gone as reflected by the Salem company spending $3 million to expand its manufacturing and office space plus another $600,000 on machinery, “to allow us to do our job a little bit better for our customers,” Olson remarked. “This will allow us to crank out more.”
'Go Pink Day' Tuesday at Panera Bread Cafes
Monday, October 01, 2012WARREN, Ohio -- In recognition of breast cancer awareness month Covelli Enterprises and Panera Bread are hosting the annual Go Pink Day Tuesday. On that day, all six Mahoning Valley Panera Bread bakery-cafes will donate 100% of the proceeds from Pink Ribbon Bagel sales to the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center.
Last year, Go Pink resulted in 16,500 bagels sold and more than $14,000 raised for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This year, the event will benefit the new center through the Pink Ribbon Classic of the Zeta Tau Alpha chapter at Youngstown State University.
Marvel Studios Returning to Ohio for ‘Avengers’ Sequel

The movie, a sequel to The Avengers blockbuster, will be shot in the Cleveland area and southern Ohio, reports the Ohio Development Services Agency’s Film Office.
Oh Wow! Exhibit Tells 'Inside Story' of Toys

With the help of the SenSource Corporate Volunteer Program, the Toys display will be installed in Oh Wow!'s Rotating Exhibit Gallery today.
Toys includes 12 hands-on stations that illustrate the simple mechanisms commonly found in toys and lets visitors create their own toylike combinations of gears, pulleys, linkages, cams, and circuits.

Cleveland Fed Report: More Income Inequality

At the same time, labor income has become more concentrated among those at the top of the income scale. These two factors have contributed to an increase in income inequality. In the coming years, the labor share will partially recover, but income inequality is likely to continue to increase, report Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland researchers Filippo Occhino and Margaret Jacobson.
Most Interviewers Decide 'Yes' or 'No' Within 10 Minutes

In fact, 60% of human resources managers polled by Accountemps said they form a positive or negative opinion of candidates during interviews in 10 minutes or less.
For some, impressions are made even quicker; 18% said it takes them five minutes or less to draw conclusions about an interviewee. Only 1% of respondents said they don't form an opinion until half an hour or more.
