Oh Wow! Exhibit Tells 'Inside Story' of Toys
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Visitors to Oh Wow! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology can explore the new "Toys: The Inside Story" exhibit beginning Tuesfday.
With the help of the SenSource Corporate Volunteer Program, the Toys display will be installed in Oh Wow!'s Rotating Exhibit Gallery today.
Toys includes 12 hands-on stations that illustrate the simple mechanisms commonly found in toys and lets visitors create their own toylike combinations of gears, pulleys, linkages, cams, and circuits.
The exhibit is the second new exhibit at Oh Wow! this fall, said executive director Suzanne Barbati.
The Toys exhibition was developed by the Montshire Museum of Science in Norwich, Vt., with funding from a National Science Foundation grant awarded to seven museums across the country that comprise Traveling Exhibits at Museums of Science (TEAMS).
SenSource is an Ohio-based privately held technology company that has provided foot and vehicle traffic monitoring analytics since 2002. Each quarter, SenSource selects a nonprofit project and a group of SenSource employees spend the day volunteering.
Winter hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Local sponsorship of the Toys exhibit is available as well, Barbati said. For more information, call 330 744 5914.
