Tuesday, September 25, 2012NILES, Ohio -- The StoneYard Grill & Tavern officially opened Aug. 16. The new restaurant on Main Street is in the building that formerly housed Kuzmaul's Pharmacy, said co-owner Richard Hale.
The property was remodeled extensively to include an outdoor patio and separate dining and bar sections.
The menu at StoneYard ranges from wings, hamburgers and other sandwiches to salads and dinner entrees such as "The Presidential," a 12-ounce Angus beef New York Strip steak named in honor of President William McKinley, who was born in Niles.

August Home Sales Show Gains in Mahoning Valley
Monday, September 24, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Home sales in the tri-county region were up by more than 20% in August over a year ago, in terms of both units sold and dollar volume, reports the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors.
A total of 466 single-family units were sold in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties during August for a combined sales total of nearly $41.8 million. The numbers represent a 20.4% increase in the number of units sold from the 387 sold in the three counties in August 2011, and a 23.4% gain in total dollar volume from the $33.9 million recorded in August 2011.
Spend Less and Raise Taxes, Economists Say
Monday, September 24, 2012WASHINGTON – A survey of the National Association of Business Economists finds little support among its 236 members for restrictive monetary or fiscal policies over the next 12 months.
The results of the semi-annual survey, released today, show support for eventual tightening of government spending, or fiscal policy. In the meantime, the overwhelming majority, 90%, favors the federal government raising taxes and cutting spending to reduce the deficit.
