Area Projects Receive State Collaboration Funds
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Projects in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull were awarded $307,600 of the more than $2.7 million in grants and $1.1 million in loans approved Thursday by the Local Government Innovation Council.
The city of Salem received $80,600 under the program’s economic development category for Project Seed Base, while the Columbiana County Department of Job and Family Services received $100,000 for a community partnership and technology initiative. In Trumbull County, Brookfield Township received $27,000 for a police district consolidation feasibility study. The Mahoning County Educational Service Center received $100,000 for a shared regional education data management system for the Eastern Ohio P-16 Partnership.
“We are pleased to see so many local governments and entities interested in collaboration,” said Christiane Schmenk, director of the Ohio Development Services Agency. “These investments will help local governments develop new partnerships to improve their bottom line.”
The fund is a competitive statewide program that provides loans and grants. The program awards up to $100,000 in grant funds per feasibility study, up to $100,000 in loan assistance per entity for demonstration projects, and up to $500,000 in loan assistance for collaborative demonstration projects.
The funds are contingent upon State Controlling Board approval.
