Gulfport Lands Permits for Harrison County Wells
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Oklahoma City-based Gulfport Energy Inc., which has drilled the most productive oil and gas wells in the Utica shale to date (READ STORY), has received two new permits to drill in Harrison County.
Gulfport was awarded two horizontal drill permits for oil and gas exploration on the Lyon property in Washington Township on Nov. 23, according to records from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
The company has reported very productive results from its wells in Harrison and Belmont counties, including a massive well on the Shugert farm in Belmont County that tested at a peak rate of 7,482 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Also, ODNR awarded two permits to CNX Gas Co. LLC, a division of Consol Energy, to drill in Noble County on land owned by Reserve Coal Properties. Another permit was issued to Antero Resources Appalachian Corp. Nov. 21 for a new horizontal well in Noble County.
No new permits were issued by ODNR for wells in Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana and Carroll counties.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection did not issue any new permits for Utica wells in Mercer or Lawrence counties over the last 10 days, records show.
