Most TV Viewers Avoid Political Advertising
Friday, June 15, 2012BALTIMORE -- Are you bothered by political advertisements on TV? If so, you're not alone; 32% of respondents to a recent survey say they change the channel as soon as an ad airs as well as during political news coverage.
And, 47% change or mute the channel if the political ad is negative, according to the survey commissioned by integrated marketing communications agency MGH. Not surprisingly, 88% of respondents said they are turned off by negative political advertising.
Brown Seeks Freeze Extension on Student Loans
Tuesday, June 12, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Cary Dabney initially though it was a trick question when he was asked to speak regarding whether Congress should act to stop an impending increase in the interest rate many students pay on the loans that fund their education.
“Do we really have to rally around the idea of saving students money at this time?” he questioned. “As a nontraditional student and a father of six, I thought it was funny that we even have to ask, ‘Is this a good idea?’”
Brown, Ryan React to Williams Appointment
Tuesday, June 12, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown and U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan are lauding former Youngstown mayor Jay Williams’ appointment as deputy director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs in the White House.
The appointment comes less than a year after the Obama Administration named Williams, who was elected mayor in 2005 and had been elected to a second four-year term in 2009, to serve as director of the Office of Recovery for Auto Communities and Workers in the U.S. Department of Labor.

Monday, June 11, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Jay Williams has a new job with the Obama Administration, this time inside the White House as the new deputy director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. The announcement was posted late Friday by David Agnew, deputy assistant to the president and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. Said Agnew in a blog posting, “In this role, Jay will lead our local engagement with mayors, county and municipal officials across the country.”
