3 More Wells Approved for Columbiana County
Thursday, July 18, 2013COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has issued three new horizontal wells targeting the Utica and Point Pleasant shale formations in Columbiana County, records show.
Chesapeake Exploration LLC was issued two new permits for the Frank Zehentbauer and Judy Brown farms in Hanover Township, while a third was approved for the McKarns property in Wayne Township.
ODNR data show there are now 80 horizontal well permits in Columbiana County. Of the 41 wells drilled in the county since 2011, seven are listed as producing.
Next Pipeline Phase Begins for Hickory Bend Project
Wednesday, July 17, 2013PETERSBURG, Ohio -- The build-out of the second phase of Pennant Midstream LLC's Hickory Bend gathering and processing systems has begun and is likely to employ more skilled building tradesmen than the first segment, a union official says.
"They're looking to use about 100 more workers this time," reports Rocco "Rocky" DiGennaro, business agent for Local 125 of the Laborers International Union. "From our union, they'll be about 55."
Baird Energy Research Finds ‘Jury Still Out on Utica’
Saturday, July 13, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A new report by Baird Equity Research Energy finds exploration companies “haven’t cracked the code” to successfully extract oil in the western part of the Utica shale play.
Hart Energy’s Unconventional Oil & Gas Center quotes the report as stating, “The jury is still out on the economic potential of the broader Utica with lack of production data, infrastructure and well results driving the uncertainty in our view.”
