Hilcorp Drills Ahead in Mercer, Lawrence Counties
Wednesday, June 18, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Houston-based Hilcorp Energy Co. is aggressively staking out its position in western Pennsylvania, securing more than a dozen new horizontal well permits last week for oil and gas exploration in the northern tier of the Utica shale.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection issued 13 permits to Hilcorp for new horizontal wells in Lawrence County, according to the agency website.

Wednesday, June 11, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Hilcorp Energy Co. continues to seek oil and gas prospects in western Pennsylvania three months after one of its drilling operations was linked to a spate of small earthquakes that rattled the eastern edge of Mahoning County.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection issued five new permits to Hilcorp June 3, authorizing the company to drill horizontal wells in Mercer County, the agency reports.
Hilcorp's new wells are targeted for the Wengerd farm in Lackawannock Township, Pa.
