ODNR Releases 1st Quarter Well Production Numbers
Wednesday, July 09, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Two wells Hilcorp Energy Co. drilled in the Mahoning Valley are showing promise in terms of decent natural gas flow, according to newly released well production data from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. These production levels, however, are dwarfed by the massive output other wells are experiencing in the southern tier of Utica shale in eastern Ohio.
ODNR production results for the quarter ended March 31 show that Hilcorp's well in Poland Township is the most productive in the northern tier of the Utica play, excluding Columbiana County.
Pa. Spends $49.8M on Housing in Marcellus Region
Wednesday, July 09, 2014HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Since 2011, $49.8 million from natural gas and federal funding sources has been devoted to housing initiatives across the Marcellus shale play within the Keystone State, Gov. Tom Corbett said Tuesday.
The impact of that funding has been multiplied by leveraging it to attract additional investments of $311.5 million from the private sector and other public sources, according to Corbett.

If anything, Austin Master Services Inc. wants to ensure any waste moving into landfills in the region is free of such contaminants and the public's safety is secure, Pete Collopy said.
Ohio Gas Production Doubles in Year's Time
Thursday, July 03, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – State officials said Wednesday that oil and gas production in Ohio nearly doubled between 2012 and 2013, driven mainly by exploration in the Utica shale.
"The Utica play is the real deal," declared James Zehringer, director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
$150,000 State Grant to Help Train 40 Welders
Wednesday, July 02, 2014BOARDMAN, Ohio -- A $150,000 state development grant would provide funding necessary to train 40 new welders through the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 396's apprenticeship program over the next two years, officials announced Tuesday.
The grant was made available through the Governor's Office of Appalachia, and is matched by Local 396's joint apprenticeship program.
