Consol to Spend $1.1B on Shale Drilling Operations
Tuesday, January 21, 2014PITTSBURGH -- Consol Energy Inc. plans to invest approximately $1.5 billion this year to accelerate natural gas production, mostly in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays in Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio, the company reported today.
General Electric to Close Ohio Lamp Plant Friday
Tuesday, January 21, 2014WARREN, Ohio – General Electric is preparing to shutter its Ohio Lamp Plant on Dana Street, which will end operations this Friday.
The plant closing, announced a year earlier, follows unsuccessful efforts to preserve some 200 jobs at the plant. A Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification Act announcement giving formal notice of the plant’s closing was posted to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services website in November.

So finds a Harris poll that reports Republican parents who provide an allowance give their children ages 10 to 13 $7.60 a week on average, independent parents $8.70 and Democrats $9.50.
In the 14 to 17 age group, Republican parents provide $14.10 a week on average versus independent parents, $16, and Democratic parents, $17.50.

Each time, the workers said no.
Now, union organizers believe they have enough of a commitment behind a fourth effort at bringing collective bargaining to the company's Youngstown operations for the first time since the site was home to the former Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. in the 1970s.
