Duncan Wins 'Best' at Butler’s Area Artists Exhibit
Monday, January 27, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Christopher Duncan of Beloit has won the Best-in-Show in the 76th Area Artists Annual Exhibition at The Butler Institute of American Art. The exhibit runs throgh Feb. 23.
Works by 114 artists in all media who live in the five-county region were judged.
Al Bright, retired professor of art history at Youngstown State University, served as exhibition juror. Of the 216 entries, Bright selected 140 works from 102 artists, eight of whom are from Pennsylvania.

Brown discussed the tax break, which expired at the end of last year, Friday at Catholic Charities.

BWC: Prescription Formulary Changes Save $20M

RTI Acquires Additive Manufacturer for $23 Million
Friday, January 24, 2014PITTSBURGH -- RTI International Metals Inc., which has a plant in Niles, Ohio, has acquired Directed Manufacturing Inc. of Austin, Texas, a provider of additive manufacturing of metals and plastics for commercial production and engineering development applications, RTI announced Thursday.
RTI management expects the purchase, for $23 million cash, to enhance the ability of the company to deliver advanced, cost-effective titanium and other advanced-material solutions to its customers in aerospace, medical device and other markets.
Library Unveils Design for $4.9M Canfield Branch
Friday, January 24, 2014CANFIELD, Ohio -- The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County unveiled the design and floor plan for the new Canfield Library last night in the auditorium of the Ursuline Center as the library's executive director, Heidi M. Daniel, and architect Ronald Cornell Faniro, of Faniro Architects Inc., of Youngstown, presented the plans to those in attendance.
The new library branch will be built on the same site as the current Canfield Library, 43 W. Main St. The existing building will be demolished.

House Sales Rise 12% in Region Last Year
Friday, January 24, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Sales of houses in Ohio sales rose 14.7% last year over the level of 2012 and the average sales price increased 5.2% statewide, the Ohio Association of Realtors reports. In the local market, sales jumped 12% and the average price rose 5.9%.
